Breast Lift (Mastopexy) in NYC

Overview

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, and time can leave the breasts lower and less firm than they once were. A breast lift repositions and reshapes the breast tissue and nipple-areolar complex to restore a more youthful contour — without necessarily changing breast volume.

Am I a Candidate?

Patients bothered by sagging or downward-pointing nipples, or whose breasts have lost shape and firmness, are typically good candidates. Those who also want more fullness, not just a lift, may benefit from combining the procedure with breast implants or fat grafting — Dr. Zweifler will discuss which approach fits your anatomy.

The Procedure

The specific incision pattern depends on the degree of sagging and your anatomy, ranging from an incision around the areola alone to more extensive anchor patterns for significant sagging. The nipple and surrounding breast tissue are repositioned and the skin envelope is tightened to support the new shape. This is typically performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure.

Recovery & Results

Most patients take about a week off work, with swelling and tenderness improving over the first two weeks. A supportive bra is typically worn for six weeks. Strenuous exercise is usually restricted for four to six weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a breast lift affect my ability to breastfeed?

Techniques that preserve the connection between the nipple and underlying breast tissue are generally used with breastfeeding in mind; this is worth discussing in detail if future breastfeeding is a priority.

How long do results last?

A lift restores position and shape, but breast tissue will continue to respond to gravity, weight changes, and future pregnancies over time.
