Mommy Makeover in NYC
Overview
Pregnancy and childbirth can permanently change the body, especially the abdomen and breasts, in ways that diet and exercise alone often can’t fully reverse. A mommy makeover combines procedures — most often a breast lift, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), and liposuction — into one customized plan designed to help restore your pre-pregnancy shape.
Am I a Candidate?
Good candidates are patients who are done having children, in good general health, and have realistic expectations. Dr. Zweifler typically recommends waiting at least six months after your last pregnancy (and after breastfeeding, if applicable) to give your body time to heal and adjust before surgery.
The Procedure
Many patients choose to combine breast surgery with a tummy tuck, so incisions are typically placed both around the breasts (for a lift, with or without implants) and across the lower abdomen, often extending hip to hip. Liposuction may be added to further refine the abdomen, waist, or other areas depending on your goals.
Recovery & Results
Most patients take about two weeks off from work. Light cardio can usually resume in two to three weeks depending on healing, while heavier activity and lifting are typically restricted for the first six weeks. A compression garment or supportive bra is worn during the initial healing period to support your results.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be at my pre-pregnancy weight before surgery?
Ideally, yes — we want you to be as close as possible to your pre-pregnancy weight, with that weight stable for several months, before undergoing elective surgery.
What if I get pregnant again?
We recommend waiting until you’re done having children to have a mommy makeover, since a future pregnancy can affect your results. That said, if pregnancy does occur after a tummy tuck, Dr. Zweifler can discuss your options with you at that time.
